benefits of doing business

Mayor Denson and the six-member Board of Trustees can often review and approve development proposals with

a 48-hour notice. Incentives that are often used for economic development in CP include:

  • Reimbursement for certain development costs, paid during construction.
  • Pay-As-You-Go incentives, paid quarterly, semi-annually or annually.
  • Sales tax rebates.
  • Real estate tax reductions.
  • Permit free reductions or waivers.
  • Waivers on all Village restrictions on advertising signage and other promotional materials

Calumet Park’s inclusion in the State of Illinois’ Cal-Sag Enterprise Zone automatically qualifies businesses developing in the Village for:

  • 1/2% credit against the State income tax for investments in certain components of qualified properties.
  • Exemption from payment of sales taxes or building materials purchases for development.
